Seismic Wave Excitation of Mature Oil Reservoirs for Green EOR Technology

چکیده

Elastic wave-based oil mobilization of residual in heterogeneous reservoirs is a viable, low-cost, and green technology method enhanced recovery (EOR). Applications for elastic (seismic) waves at the reservoir scale are currently preliminary stages investigation development. We employ two-layer numerical finite element (FEM) this research to investigate possibility effective propagation seismic low permeability area mature when stress load delivered rock matrix via downhole source. The purpose evaluate potential fluid displacement amplitudes crossflow generation reservoir. In formation, results reveal that, as observation radius approaches boundary, time-domain performs better wave parameter than pore displacement. However, oscillations peak mesoscopic frequency 3.0 Hz produce an instantaneous transfer rate (recovery rate) 2.5% (bypassed oil) from area. This can be used combination with water flooding recover more both high low-permeability areas. Mesoscopic attenuation therefore utilized one indicators assess reservoirs.

CO2 EOR and Storage in Oil Reservoirs

CO2 EOR and Storage in Oil Reservoirs — CO2 injection into tertiary oil reservoirs has been widely accepted as an effective technique for enhanced oil recovery (EOR), and has been used by the oil industry for over 40 years. Concerns over greenhouse gas emissions are leading to the investigation and realisation of its potential as a carbon storage method in recent years. With the right reservoir...

Simulation Study of CO2-EOR in Tight Oil Reservoirs with Complex Fracture Geometries

The recent development of tight oil reservoirs has led to an increase in oil production in the past several years due to the progress in horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing. However, the expected oil recovery factor from these reservoirs is still very low. CO2-based enhanced oil recovery is a suitable solution to improve the recovery. One challenge of the estimation of the recovery is ...

Redeveloping Mature Fractured Carbonate Reservoirs

Naturally fractured carbonate reservoirs (NFCRs) comprise the majority of the oil and gas reservoirs around the Persian Gulf.  Many of these reservoirs have a long history of exploitation, but vast amounts of oil remain in place.  A major redevelopment process for light oil based NFRs will likely be the use of horizontal wells combined with gravity drainage at constant pressure based on voidage...

Seismic Attributes Method for Prediction of Unconsolidated Sand Reservoirs of Heavy Oil

Heavy crude oil is known as oil that is highly viscous and of a higher density than that of conventional oil. Sand reservoirs containing heavy oil generally consist of unconsolidated sediments deposited at a shallow burial depth, with high porosity and permeability. In seismic exploration, acoustic impedance inversion is a commonly used tool in reservoir prediction. However, due to the unconsol...

Integration of Seismic and Petrophysics to Characterize Reservoirs in “ALA” Oil Field, Niger Delta

In the exploration and production business, by far the largest component of geophysical spending is driven by the need to characterize (potential) reservoirs. The simple reason is that better reservoir characterization means higher success rates and fewer wells for reservoir exploitation. In this research work, seismic and well log data were integrated in characterizing the reservoirs on "ALA" ...
